Creativity is a work in progress. At best it is a triumphant romp over pure white uncertainty. It thrives in that moment, stoked by whimsy, and is driven on by stubborn practice and discipline. It might even earn its keep forever after, in one’s own satisfaction, or even in someone else’s. At worst, it is but another awkward dance with humiliation, in which we test our very humble limits, seeking warm embrace, but often find cool denial. So, either way, we step away from it for a while, and likely regroup someday, to conjure what will be needed to try again.
